Woodstock is an extremely popular town thanks to its thriving centre packed with restaurants and independent shops, all right on the doorstep of Blenheim Place and its spectacular grounds. Upper Brook Hill is a delightful development of cottages and apartments close to the centre of Woodstock and with fine views over the Glyme Valley. Some of the apartments have underground garaging, others carports and the cottages have garages. The landscaped lawns and gardens are encircled with a tapestry hedge and some of the cottages have private terraces.

Facilities : These include a resident secretary and emergency alarm service, lifts and attractive gardens and grounds. The secretarys accommodation and office overlook the entrance of the private drive. The apartments have carpeted lobby areas and some feature spectacular octagonal drawing rooms.

Directions: From the south east pass the entrance to Blenheim Palace on your left and continue through the town and as you bear left and just before you go down the hill turn right into Upper Brook Hill. The entrance to the development is immediately on your right.

Woodstock: The town itself was founded by Henry II who, for the love of ‘Fair Rosamund‘ (his mistress Rosamund Cifford), allegedly made such regular visits to Woodstock that extra lodgings were needed for his retinue and guests. So new Woodstock was laid out on vacant land at the park gate. Trade flourished through the royal connection and Woodstock, a market centre, prospered and expanded. A charter was granted by Henry VI in 1453.

In time, as other towns received royal patronage, Woodstock‘s castle and park became neglected and the decline facing the town was only averted in 1705 when Queen Anne presented the park to the nation‘s military hero, John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, recent victor over the French at Blindheim in Bavaria.
