Brighton is situated just below the Sussex Downs and is famous not only for its Pavilion but also as one of the most exciting seaside resorts in the country. The star of Brighton is undoubtedly the Pavilion next door to the Brighton Museum, which was transformed by John Nash in the early part of the nineteenth century into a fantastic eastern extravaganza. Set low amongst the buildings now surrounding it is a major attraction and adds to Brighton‘s alluring charm. Elsewhere there are imposing 19th century hotels, an electric railway, art galleries, fine parks and of course a long shingle beach.
