Abergele is a market town on the north coast of Wales and lies about eight miles east of Lladudno. Just to the north of the town is Pensarn famous for its sandy beach. A railway station also serves the resort. Its name is likely to derive from 'mouth of the River Gele' and the area has long been settled . The Romans had a trading centre here and in the 13th century Edward I is known to have stayed here on his way to suppress the revolt of Madog ap Llwelyn.
