It marks the end of the Cleveland Way which begins in Hemlsley on the North Yorkshire Moors more than a hundred miles away. At the northern end of Filey bay are the remains of a Roman signal station and St Oswald church is 12th century with over 400 years of medieval history recorded in the roof of the tower.
