Pitlochry is largely a Victorian town becoming an important tourist centre in the mid 19th century. The town lies on the River Tummel famous for its beauty and the 'Queens View' on Loch Tummel. The surrounding area is popular hill-walking country and there are beautiful views over the glens from the summit of Ben Vrackie. The town has two whisky distilleries and is bypassed by the main A9 Perth to Inverness road.
