Norfolk House: Norfolk House is close to the centre of King's Lynn and was completed in 1986. It consists of thirty-six retirement flats at the end of County Court Road adjacent to the park. Facilities: These include a resident manager and emergency alarm service, residents' lounge, guest facilities, laundry and gardens. Limited parking is within the development. King's Lynn: King's Lynn aquired the 'King's' by a charter of Henry VIII. It was previously known as Lun in Domesday when the town already had more than nine salt-houses becoming Bishops Lynn and finally King's Lynn after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the sixteenth century. The town was built on the east bank of the Great Ouse and the many period houses testify to its past prosperity as a successful port. Once a walled town only a part now remains together with the magnificent south gate built in 1520. Today the town continues to be the main commercial centre for the region with its wealth of historic buildings. The Guildhall, the largest surviving medieval guildhall in the country, is now a theatre and the King's Lynn Music Festival is well known. There are many interesting places to visit nearby not least Sandringham House about seven miles away.
