William Pennys consists of 14 studio flats built in 1968. Facilities include resident management and emergency alarm service, lounge and garden. Lancaster was the county town of Lancashire until Preston became the administrative centre in the 19th century. It is set at the mouth of the River Lune on the north-west coast and its name derives from 'Roman fort on the River Lune'. The town grew up around its Norman castle and in the Middle Ages became an important port and in the 18th century a centre of trade with America. Eventually the Lune started to silt up and with the rise of Liverpool further south its maritime trade declined. Tenure: Licence General Information: Managed by Lancaster Charity.
