Kenilworth is famous for its castle and saw many famous visitors especially in the 16th century when Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, turned the castle into a comfortable Tudor mansion. It was begun in the 12th century when Geoffrey de Clinton was granted lands by Henry I to built the castle and abbey which was once surrounded by a huge lake.
