Ann Edwards Mews consists of eight one and two-bedroom bungalows and cottages completed in 1994. Facilities include non resident management and emergency alarm service, guest facilities and garden. Gloucester was known as Glouuecestre in Domesday and had its abbey, five fisheries and a mill. It was once a fortified Roman city and their base for an assault on Wales. As the lowest crossing point on the Severn it became an important centre in Saxon times. The magnificent abbey was begun in the 11th century and after the Dissolution of the Monasteries was designated a cathedral. Its most famous tomb is that of Edward II. In the Middle Ages the city was the commercial outlet for the counties bordering the river and there are many attractive period buildings.
