Rowleys Court consists of 49 flats with communal facilities off Sandhurst Street to the west of the town centre. Facilities include an alarm service and non-resident management services, lift, residents' lounge, laundry, guest facilities and garden. Oadby was known as Oldebi in Domesday and probably derived its name from 'farmstead" or village of a man called Authi'. It is a small town to the southeast of Leicester and about ten miles to the north-west of Market Harborough. It was first settled by the Angles in the 6th century and has a pagan Anglo-Saxon cemetry. It later became a significant Danish settlement and remained a village until the later 19th century and then expanded considerably in the 20th century. Today it is predominantly a residential area and suburb of Leicester.
