Northwood Court consists of 40 flats off Strathern Road to the east of the city. Broughty Ferry station is about a mile. Facilities include an alarm service and guest facilities. Dundee is about 25 miles east of Perth on the north shore of the Firth of Tay on the east coast of Scotland. To the north of the city is the Balgarthno stone circle probably dating from the Bronze Age and the remains of Law Hill Fort date from the Iron Age. The town benefited from its strategic position between St Nicholas Craig and Stannergate and its natural harbour helped it to develop as a trading port exporting wool from the surrounding area. Its prosperity later came from weaving imported jute. In the middle ages the town was the focal point for various hostilities and in the 17th century Viscount Dundee raised the Stuart standard in Dundee Law. By the end of the 19th century the city had many jute mills but these later declined in the 20th century as it became cheaper to process the cloth elsewhere. The RRS Discovery is berthed at Discovery Point.
