The Ogilvie Almshouses: The Ogilvie Almshouses consist of 18 houses with communal facilities renovated in 2007 and situated off Church Lane south of Aldringham. Leiston : Leiston was mentioned in Domesday as Ledestuna and had three churches and a mill. Its name is likely to derive from 'farmstead near a beacon-fire'. The town prospered in the late 19th century and early 20th century with local firms such as Richard Garett & Sons who produced munitions in both World Wars and became famous for a portable steam engine and threshing machine.
