Abbeyfield House is situated off Link Road and consists of 15 studio flats with communal facilities completed in 1984. The development is within walking distance of shops and the station.

Facilities include non-resident staff, lift, residents' lounge, laundry, dining room and garden.

Great Missenden was founded in Saxon times and is an attractive village close to the River Misbourne. Described in 1862 'as delightfully situated on the high road from London', its sits within a Conservation Area surrounded by Green Belt land. One -time host to a dozen coaching inns the town was an important starting off point for London. The village is most famous for its Abbey founded as a religious house for Augustinian canons. In 1985 the Abbey was gutted by fire and has since been restored and is now an educational establishment.

Another building of historic interest is the 14th century Church of St Peter and St Paul which is situated just outside the village. It has a Norman font and a splendid display of gargoyles and monuments.
