Friendship Court is situated off Chapel Lane close to the centre of the village and consists of six apartments completed in 1992. Facilities include an alarm service and estate management services. Mary Tavy was named after the River Tavy on the western border of Dartmoor National Park. The village is situated about four miles north of Tavistock in the Tavy valley and was known as Tavi in Domesday and had 16 cattle and 120 sheep. It was once a prosperous mining area and the chief occupation of many of the villagers was as miners particularly at the Wheal mine.
