Barnton Avenue West is situated off Whitehouse Road to the west of Edinburgh and consists of 38 flats with communal facilities completed in 1988.

Edinburgh sits on the the great black crag of Castle Rock high above the city and its name probably comes from 'Fortification at Eidyn'. There has been a settlement here for many years occupied at first by the British, then the Anglo-Saxons and finally the Scots. The city as we know it today largely developed in the late 18th century to the north of the Old Town with new wide streets, crescents and circuses.
