Inchmarlo Retirement Village was established in 1986 near Banchory on Royal Deeside in Aberdeenshire.

At the heart of the 100 acre estate is Inchmarlo House, a Georgian listed mansion house, which is now a 52 bed luxury care home.

There are also around 200 homes for the over 55's in nine neighbourhoods, ranging from one bedroom apartments to four bedroom detached houses with their own driveway and garage.

Inchmarlo House was transformed into a care home in 1987 and also has a hairdressing salon, bar, restaurant and club rooms (designed in the style of a luxury country house hotel) for the use of homeowners. Inchmarlo House is also the administrative centre of the retirement village and is staffed 24 hours a day.

Regular indoor and outdoor events are organised for homeowners, including concerts on the lawn and food tasting evenings in the dining room.

Inchmarlo is situated across the road from the River Dee and is adjacent to Inchmarlo Golf Resort.

Banchory is a small and attractive town situated around one mile to the east of Inchmarlo on the A93, the main road from Aberdeen to Ballater and Braemar. Its climate and character have made it a popular holiday centre. It is a fast-growing town, and is well-known for its fine High Street with a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants.  A wide range of entertainment is available in its numerous hotels and recreation facilities include golf, riding, putting, tennis, bowling and cricket.

Fishing with day permits is available for salmon and trout on the River Feugh, salmon on the River Dee and brown trout on the Beltie Burn.

There are four churches in Banchory, the East and West Churches (Church of Scotland), St Ternan's (Episcopal) and St Columba's (Roman Catholic).  A public library is also available.

Aberdeen is around 18 miles to the east of Banchory and is the financial centre of the north-east of Scotland, as well as being the headquarters for the North Sea oil and gas industry. It is also the nearest airport with an excellent range of services within the UK and throughout Europe. Aberdeen railway station has direct services to many towns and cities throughout the UK.
