Facilities include a visiting manager and alarm service, lift, residents' lounge, laundry, security entry system, guest facilities and garden. Hoddesdon was mentioned in Domesday as Hodestone and had a fishery. It was later one of Izzak Walton's favourite fishing-places. Its name probably derives from 'Hod's Hill and the the town lies about eight miles southeast of Welwyn Garden City on the Cambridge Road. In the 18th century it was an important coaching stop being about a days' journey from London and many Georgian houses and inns line the wide High Street.
