Russell Court is situated to the west of the town centre off Russell Road and consists of five apartments in a single building of traditional brick construction. The development is within easy walking distance of the canal and excellent walks in the country.

Newbury, once a thriving medieval centre, has over the centuries maintained its reputation as a vibrant market town. An open air market dating back to 1204 is held in the Market Place every Thursday and Saturday. There is a good selection of shops and department stores with supermarkets, including a Waitrose, Sainsburys and Tescos, and a retail park to the south of the town.

There are a wide variety of eating places including traditional pubs and fashionable cafes and restaurants and arts and sports centres as well as the Corn Exchange and Watermill theatres. The Kennet and Avon canal passes through the town as does the River Kennet. There are several golf courses nearby and Newbury Racecourse.
