Swimbridge Court : Swimbridge Court is an attractive development of independent apartments and bungalows within the grounds of Swimbridge Court Nursing Home on the outskirts of the village. The village is set in the North Devon hills surrounded by beautiful countryside. The properties are set to the east of the Nursing Home in attractive grounds and owners have the benefit of access to the full range of services provided by a nursing home.

Facilities : Access to the development is via security gates and video entry phone. There is a minibus on site which can take owners to Barnstaple when required. Public bus services run every half hour from the village centre to Barnstaple.

Swimbridge : Swimbridge is an attractive village about four miles from Barnstaple, one of the oldest boroughs in England and North Devon‘s bustling ‘capital‘. The village is now by-passed by the North Devon link road, the A361, Barnstaple to Tiverton Road. The village itself is an ancient settlement set in a valley and is mentioned in Domesday as belonging to Saewin the priest. Today there is a post office, inn, school and famous parish church with its beautiful and richly carved Rood Screen. A chapel has existed here since the time of Edward the Confessor but the present building has only been a parish church since 1866. It is also the place that the Reverend John Russell came to in 1833 to define and epitomise the ‘hunting parson‘. His name is perpetuated in the strain of Jack Russell terriers which he bred.

The North Devon area has excellent sporting activities from golf at Barnstaple, Sauton and Northam, riding on Exmoor National Park and fishing on the Taw and Torridge. Bideford Bay offers good surfing and swimming.
