Amesbury Abbey Mews is set apart from the magnificent Abbey with its own winding access off the main A345. The 35 independent apartments are set around an attractive garden courtyard with garaging discreetly placed so as not to dominate the views. It is just a short walk to the Abbey facilities.

The Abbey mews flats and cottages are mostly two bedroomed, all with sunny aspects and set on an historic site in parkland distinguished by the variety and size of trees. Nearby is the large and imposing mansion of Amesbury Abbey which has been a private nursing home for more than 30 years. The Wiltshire Avon flows through the grounds which is annually stocked and adds its own special charm to the scene. There is however nothing remote about the Mews. The busy little town of Amesbury is within walking distance, and is well served by a post office, banks, a public library, churches and a variety of shops. Please visit www.amesburyabbey.com for further information.

The quarterly service charge includes twice weekly domestic help, daily part time RGN Wardens on site with emergency cover from the Mews & Abbey staff. Daily four course luncheon served in the Mews Dining Room, heating from May-September, buildings insurance, and external maintenance to property and gardening.

Amesbury is mentioned in Domesday as having eight mills but it has a much older pedigree. In Old English Ambresburh - 'the fortress of Ambrosius' refers to the Iron Age fort known as Vespasians Camp to the west of the town and for long an important Romano-British strongpoint in the fifth century.

Today Amesbury is an attractive small town in a bend of the River Avon crossed by a five arched bridge in the palladian style. The church of St Mary and St Melor was founded for Benedictine nuns in the tenth century and Amesbury Abbey itself, a successor to the priory, is set in the park and is largely a 19th century creation, the previous house being been demolished in the 1830s.
