Countess of Thanet's Almshouse Charity consists of seven studio and one-bedroom cottages and flats built in 1872 and renovated in 1963.

Facilities include estate management services

Cowden is a small village with Grade II listed cottages and a 13th century parish church, St Mary Magdalene. It lies about five miles south of Edenbridge and for many years was involved with the iron industry. Cowden railway station has a regular service to London and Uckfield.

The small town of Edenbridge is situated on the River Eden about ten miles west of Tonbridge. Its name is thought to derive from 'Eadhelm's bridge' and there are several old houses in the main street. Haxted Mill and museum lie on the Lingfield Road and The Old Crown Inn dates to the early 16th century.
