Bramley Grange is situated close to shops off the Horsham Road and consists of 20 apartments in landscaped gardens and grounds built by Beechcroft in 2001. Facilities include a visiting manager and emergency alarm service, swimming pavilion, underground garaging and attractive gardens and grounds. Bramley was known as Bronlei in Domesday and had three churches and five mills and belonged to Odo, Bishop of Bayeux, and one of the largest landholders in the county. Originally a Saxon settlement its name is likely to derive from 'clearing in a broom'. It lies in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and for most of the Middle Ages was an agricultural community. Getrude Jekyll once lived in the village and today it has several shops including a chemist, grocers and post office, two inns and a restaurant.
