Springfield Park: Springfield Park consists of ten bungalows in a small courtyard situated just below the Residential Care Home on the edge of the village. It was completed in 1997 and the facilities of the Care Home are available to the residents of Springfield Park. There is a scheme manager and emergency alarm service, lounge, laundry, garden and community centre. The post office, St Bridget's Church and local inn are closeby. Okehampton is about five miles away.

Directions: From the A30 south of Okehampton take the Bridestowe Road and on entering the village bear left into Rectory Road opposite St Bridget's church. In a short distance the entrance to Springfield Park will be found on the left hand side.

Bridestowe: Bridestowe is situated on the edge of Dartmoor and is named after St Bridget, one of the most revered of the Irish Saints who founded numerous monasteries and churches in Ireland and died in A.D. 525. St Bridget of Kildare was renowned for her work amongst the poor. That the parish and manor were of very early foundation is clear from the entry in Domesday Book which notes that the land was held by Ralph Pomeroy, a wealthy Norman, from Baldwin the Sheriff and there were nine villeins, four bordars and eight serfs.
