Eynsford castle is one of the most complete moated castles in the country dating from the 11th century gradually falling into decay having been sacked. At nearby Lullingstone Castle Tom Hart Dyke has created the Walled Garden of Plants following his captivity in Colombia. Lullingstone Roman Villa contains the remains of a Romano-Christian chapel.
