Orocombe Court is situated close to local shops off Littleham Road and consists of 57 flats with communal facilities completed in 1996. Facilities include a resident manager and emergency alarm service, lift, residents' lounge, laundry, video door entry system linked to TV, guest facilities and garden. Exmouth is situated on the eastern shore of the River Axe and derives its name from 'mouth of the River Exe'. It is thought to be the longest-established seaside resort in the country with many traditional attractions. The town has several Georgian houses and a circular 18th century house called A La Ronde stands about two miles to the north of the town. The Exe Estuary with its nature reserve is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Dawlish Warren is one of the few natural sand spits in the world and is home to wide range of rare and exciting wild life and plants. Today the town is primarily a residential catchment area for Exeter which surpasses any other town in Devon for size and prosperity with its cathedral and University. In the 16th century Exmouth was still a small village and it wasn't until the 17th century that the town started to take on its present form. Its sandy beaches attracted the mercantile classes from nearby and further afield and it soon established itself as a seaside resort. The coming of the railways in the 19th century further promoted the seaside attractions and much of the town was built during the Victorian period.
