Southend-on-Sea: Southend-on-Sea is a seaside resort created in the early nineteenth century and which soon became one of the most popular holiday towns in th country. Southend has the longest pier in the world with a minature railway and is popular with fishermen. At low tide the sea goes out for more than a mile.
