The Priory : St Augustine‘s Priory at Abbotskerswell consists of 43 retirement properties mostly converted in 1994 from the old Victorian buildings. There are now 22 apartments in the main building with new cottages and flats built in the grounds. The Priory is set in a delightful situation in six acres of grounds on the edge of the village of Abbotskerswell about three miles from Newton Abbot. Amenities include a restaurant in the old chapel, a swimming pool, billiards room, visiting hairdresser, laundry facilities, guest suites and a minibus for shopping trips.

Facilities : There are many facilities including; therapy swimming pool, table tennis, extensive grounds with woodland, meadow and formal gardens, various communal rooms; The Forum, The Octagon and the sun lounge. We also have a minibus service, a friendly and professional staff, lunches twice a week, local deliveries and many resident-led activities. Please refer to our website for more information.

There is also a resident caretaker and emergency alarm service and full time gardener. Laundry facilities and two guest suites are available to residents as is workshop space. Arrangement for domestic help or additional care can be made as required.

The Forum, originally the Chapel and now the meeting room where optional lunch is served two or three times a week. There are good facilities for concerts and talks.The octagonal organ loft is now used as a small library. Nearby is the Octagon, the restored Chapter House, now used for the Art Group., snooker and other social activities.

Abbotskerswell  is approximately half a mile from The Abbey. The village has a general store, post office, two public inns and a church. The nearby town of Newton Abbot has a wide range of facilities and good train access to London (Paddington). The coast is within easy reach as is Dartmoor National Park and there are many places of interest to visit including Buckfast Abbey, Dartington Hall Gardens, and Compton Castle.
