The Elms Residential Retirement Park Home is owned and managed by the Kinch family in Torskey and consists of fifty holiday-style timber park homes set in ten acres and completed in 1987. Facilities : The residents of The Elms own their own minibus and run twice weekly trips to Gainsborough which has a station. There is a security entrance barrier and a medical centre within walking distance of The Elms. Torskey lies about nine miles north-west of Lincoln to the east of the River Trent. The Foss Dyke was cut by the Romans to link the Trent with the River Witham and a Saxon mint was once located here. The castle was largely destroyed in the Civil War. Lincoln is an ancient settlement having been important in Roman times as the intersection of the Fosse Way and Ermine Street. It rises from the north bank of the River Witham and its name possibly derives from 'Lindon pool' referring to the large pool here. By the time of Domesday it was the fourth largest town in England along with London, York and Norwich. The cathedral dates from the 11th to 15th centuries and its central tower is one of the tallest in England. There are many beautiful buildings in the town. The old castle is to the west of the cathedral.
