Facilities: There is a visiting manager and emergency alarm service, attractive small garden to the rear and limited parking to the front. HISTORY Titchfield was mentioned in Domesday as Ticefelle and had a mill, a market and a toll. Today it is an attractive small town west of Fareham with a Saxon Church and the ruin of Place House, where Charles Ist spent his last night before imprisonment. Fareham is a relatively new town growing up in the shadow of the famous naval port of Gosport about five miles to the south east. Here there are shingle beaches at Stokes Bay and there is a passenger ferry to Portsmouth. Today Fareham provides good shopping facilities and has a covered shopping centre. Nearby are the quays of Fareham Creek with their old waterside buildings. There are fine views from Portchester Hill in the eastern part of the Borough as well as from Portchester Castle overlooking Portsmouth Harbour.
