Westgate Mews: Westgate Mews lies in the shadow of the famous castle close to the High Street and consists of twenty-four retirement flats completed in 1990. There is limited on-site parking accessed through the arch off The Dockey.

Facilities: These include a non-resident manager and emergency alarm service. It is just a short walk to the shops in the High Street.

Directions: From the main A30 junction south of the town continue to the centre and turn into Westgate Street. Immediately before the high street turn left towards the castle and Westgate Mews is to be found on the right hand side.

Launceston: Launceston is close to the border with Devon and though once the capital of Cornwall and the county's only walled town, remains a market town as it was in the eleventh century. Even before Domseday it was an important centre having both an ecclesiastical college and a Saxon mint. Launceston Castle was one of the great strongholds of the Earls of Cornwall and controlled the main entry route into the county. It dominates the town and surrounding countryside and fell into disrepair after the Civil War although part was still used as a prison and is referred to by Mallory.

Today the town continues to retain its medieval charm with ancient bridges and still has good communications being just off the main A30. It has good shopping facilities and many interesting Georgian buildings and places of interest to visit. Lawrence House is now a museum owned by The National Trust and was once a haunt of French prisoners of war during the early nineteenth century. St Thomas's Church built in the twelth century has the largest font in Cornwall.

Tenure: Leasehold
