The Cloisters consists of 41 retirement flats in a single building off Carnegie Road in Broadwater just to the north of Worthing. The sea is less than a mile and Cissbury Camp in the South Downs less than two miles. The properties were completed in 1989.

Facilities include a visiting scheme manager and emergency alarm service and communal lounge. Parking is to the front of the development.

Worthing is mentioned in Domesday and was for much of its history a small fishing village. Today it is the largest seaside resort west of Brighton and dominates this part of the south coast with its fine beaches and over four miles of promenades. There is good shopping and easy access to local centres; Ferring, Goring-by-Sea, South Lancing, by bus or train. Oscar Wilde wrote his play 'The Importance of Being Ernest' at Worthing.

There are many interesting places to visit nearby including Parham near Storrington, the eighteenth century Woods Mill at Henfield and Highdown Gardens to the west of the town. To the east at Shoreham is the Marlipins Museum dating from the 12th century and older than many of its exhibits. A little further afield is Bignor Roman Villa and the Chalk Pits Museum at Amberley. The Saxon Church of St Mary's at Sompting Abbots is well worth a visit with its 'Rhenish helm'. Worthing's museum and art gallery has many fine displays and at West Tarring is the Museum of Sussex Folklore.
