Canterbury : Canterbury is the pre-eminent cathedral city of England and was a flourishing town under the Romans and became the capital of Kent in the 6th century. The magnificent cathedral was begun in 1070 with Bell Harry, the tower over the crossing, being built at the end of the fifteenth century. Today it is a much visited and beautiful building. The town has many charming old streets with ancient buildings, museums and art galleries.
