Allington Court is situated off Outwood Common Road and consists of 55 flats and bungalows set in attractive gardens. It is opposite South Green and a parade of shops which includes a florist, hairdresser, dry cleaners, supermarket, post office, butcher and chemist. The development was built by Sanctuary Housing Association and completed in 1989. Facilities include a resident manager and emergency alarm service, lift, communal lounge, laundry and garden.
Billericay is about five miles east of Brentwood and probably derives its name from a medieval word Byllyrica meaning 'dyehouse or tanhouse'. At the time of Domesday Billericay is not mentioned as then it was considered to be part of Great Bursted which lies to the south. In the middle ages it is thought that Pilgrims would journey through the town and this might explain the number of inns in the town. In 1381 the Essex rebels were defeated by the King's forces so ending the Peasants Revolt. Billericay has good shops and the town's hall contains memorials to four people who sailed with the Pilgrim Fathers. There is a mainline railway station.
