Windsor Mews : Windsor Mews is situated in Hilltop Close off Weir Gardens to the south of the High Street. It consists of 24 flats in a small courtyard and was completed in 1987. Shops are within walking distance.

Rayleigh : Raleigh is an old market town which has expanded considerably in the last 25 years and lies about six miles north-west of Southend-on-Sea. It was probably first settled by the Romans in the first century and by Domesday was known as Ragewneia with vines and a castle.

Its name is likely to have derived from 'glade frequented by female rodeer or she-goats' and the forests around the town were Royal Hunting grounds for many years. The town has the remains of a famous castle which was built for Sweyn of Essex in the 11th century. It was much visited by Royalty until eventually falling into disrepair in the 15th century. All that exists today are the earthwork remains of its large motte and bailey.
