Grattan Mews is a small development of just six one and two-bedroom bungalows with an age covenant of 60+. Facilities include estate management services and alarm service. Hailsham is mentioned in Domesday as Hamelesham and had two salt-houses. It is situated on the River Cuckmere at the foot of the South Downs and its name is thought to derive from 'Haegel's homestead or enclosure'. The town grew largely as an agricultural centre for the surrounding area and in the 13th century Henry III granted a charter for a market. Later it became well known for its rope making in particular 'hanging ropes'. Tenure: Leasehold & Shared Ownership General Information: Grattan Mews is managed by Thomas Scanlon Trust If you want to call the management company direct call 01825 766482, or if you want to contact the development direct, call |
