The Oxford Beaumont Care Community is close to the hamlet of Boars Hill high above the City of Oxford in the Vale of the White Horse. The close care apartments and bungalows are in the grounds of The Oxford Beaumont Nursing & Residential Care Centre by Bayworth Corner. Originally a large Edwardian country house the home is set in five acres of grounds and the house has been carefully adapted and extended to provide a high standard of living accommodation and facilities. The landscaped gardens lead to a beautiful woodland walk.

Oxford is world famous as an ancient university town on the Thames. The city name means 'ford of the Oxen' and was strategically important throughout the middle ages. The city has numerous buildings of outstanding merit and remains Mathew Arnold's city of 'dreaming spires'.

Two of the earliest buildings are the towers of St Michael and St George and the latter was part of the Norman castle and the remains of its motte can still be seen opposite Nuffield College. The colleges have a distinctly recognisable form being built around lawned quadrangles with halls and chapels. The Bodleian Library, one of the oldest and most famous in the world, was opened in 1602 and the Ashmolean in the 1840s.

Today Oxford remains a magnate for academic endeavor and is visited from all over the world. The Cherwell punts are much sought after in the summer by students and visitors alike and the city has many fine restaurants and inns.
