Hunters Lodge is situated off Preston Old Road in Cherry Tree just to the north of the Leeds and Liverpool canal and consists of 46 flats.

Facilities include a house manager and 24 hour emergency Careline system, communal laundry and garden.

Blackburn was mentioned as Blacheburne in Domesday and is thought to derive its name from 'dark stream'. It lies about eight miles east of Preston to the north of the West Pennine Moors on the southern edge of the Ribble Valley. An old Roman military road passed just to the east of the present day cathedral. The town was one of the first industrialised towns in the world due to its proximity to the then expanding textile industry. The Lancashire cotton-weaving industry eventually declined in the 20th century.
