The Vinery is a magnificent, traditional, five-storey building with 30 apartments built in 1986. All the apartments are south-facing and enjoy views of Torbay, whilst a spectacular vista of the town and harbour is available from the roof top conservatory, which in turn leads to a small sheltered garden high on the cliff side. Torquay is a seaside resort on the south coast well known for its panoramic setting overlooking Tor Bay. It probably got its name from 'a quay near Torre' with reference to a jetty built by the monks of Torre Abbey in the 12th century. Sheltered by its famous red cliffs, Torquay‘s mild climate supports palm trees and sub-tropical flowers and as a prime health resort has attracted visitors for over a century. The superb beach and harbour with its fine marina provide a centre for all summer sports.

Although deep in the seclusion of South Devon, Torquay is easily accessible by road and rail. Just outside the town is Kent's Cavern known to have been inhabited during the Ice Age.
