Elizabeth Hall Cottages consists of four one-bedroom flats built in the early part of the 19th century. Facilities include non-resident management and emergency alarm service. Normanton-on-Trent is a small village about 10 miles east of Ollerton and about 12 miles north of Newark-on-Trent. St Mathew's Church dates from the 13th century and is Grade II listed. Newark-on-Trent was mentioned as Newerc in Domesday and had several churches, a mill and a fishery. Earl Leofric's wife, Godiva, is the first recorded owner of the town which was later to become well known in the early 13th century through the struggles of the King with his barons. The main gateway and chapel of the 12th century castle still overlook the town with its attractive cobble-stoned market place and many old and interesting inns.
