Gurney Almshouses consists of four two-bedroom houses built in the 19th century and renovated in 1990. Facilities include non-resident management and emergency alarm service. Reepham is an attractive market town mentioned in Domesday as Refham and was once an important place of pilgrimage in the medieval ages. It had two adjacent churches joined by a parsonage and a third church was burned down in the 16th century and all that remains today is part of the tower. The town's name is thought to derive from 'Reeves' manor and there are Georgian houses lining the old streets. The railway line is now the start of the Marriotts Way long distance footpath and Whitwell and Reepham station has regular steam rallies.
