Betensons Cottages consist of four one-bedroom flats close to the centre of the village. Facilities include non-resident management and emergency alarm service. Plaxtol is an attractive village about four miles east of Sevenoaks and less than a mile from The River Bourne to the east which used to power three watermills. Plaxtol Church is one of the few churches in England not to have a dedicatory name and was built in 1649 during the Commonwealth. Tonbridge lies about four miles to the south and is mentioned as Tonebridge in Domesday and belonged to the Bishop of Rochester. It is set at the highest navigable point of the River Medway and was probably a settlement in Roman times. The town was always a strategic settlement and the castle was besieged no less than three times in the Middle Ages being severely burnt in the 13th century. Its impressive remains are a major tourist attraction for the town which has a High Street almost a mile long. There is a monthly farmers market and a good selection of shops.
