HISTORY

Farnborough is mentioned in Domesday as Fereberga and had a mill deriving its name from 'hill or mound growing with ferns'. It was considerably smaller then and today encompasses the settlements of Cove and Southwood. Farnborough Hill was once the home of the Empress Eugenie who built the Church of St Michaels' Abbey in which a mausoleum for her husband and son can be seen.

Farnborough has a good range of shops including Sainsbury's & Asda. Marks and Spencer's, Tesco, Waitrose and Morrisons are an easy 10 minute drive. There are also activities such as a bowling green, swimming pool and sports centre. Today it is famous for its International Air Display held towards the end of summer.

Farnborough is situated in North-East Hampshire about three miles north of Aldershot close to the Surrey border.
