Wynnes Almshouses consists of four flats originally built in the 17th century and renovated in 1998 Facilities include non-resident management and emergency alarm service. Baldock lies about six miles due north of Stevenage and is now overshadowed by Letchworth. It was founded in the 12th century by the Knights Templar and named after Baghdad. The Great North Road passed through Baldock and formed part of its high street. The town has several fine Georgian town houses and the Wynn almshouses were founded in the early 17th century.
