Much of Buckinghamshire is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and well suited to arable farming with the Chiltern Hills a magnet for walkers. The long and unusual county outline is the result of being based on the original Danish borough and the original county town of the same name gradually gave way to the better placed Aylesbury, now with its magnificent new Waterside Theatre. Aylesbury has the heritage of its old quarter as well as modern shopping centres and the nightlife of a contemporary town.

High Wycombe has some good shopping facilities with many specialist shops and most national stores represented including a large Asda Superstore. Fitness enthusiasts are pleased to have Marlow hill nearby and thespians enjoy the several festivals that take place in the town including the Wycombe Arts Festival and other theatre. The Wycombe Show takes place in September. There are several places of interest nearby and West Wycombe Park has country walks, recreation areas and a Palladian Mansion with fine landscaped gardens. Marlow Hill gives a panoramic view of the area stretching into the Vale of Aylesbury to the west and woodland to the east.
