Retirement Properties Spotlight in Hartlepool

Hartlepool is situated on the coast on Hartlepool Bay and was an important port in the early middle ages with Crusader knights using it as an embarkation point for the Holy Land. The town still has a stretch of medieval wall with an archway leading down to a beach. The town's museum in Norrthgate illustrates the important local industries including coal, iron and shipbuilding. Castle Eden is a fine 18th century house lying about eight miles to th northwest and Castle Eden Denes forms a local nature reserve.
