Tenterden has excellent shopping facilities in the High Street which is about 300 metres from Parkside Court whilst Ashford, with its large shopping centre, is only 12 miles away. Tenderden has had its own railway station for over a hundred years and Tenterden Golf Club is conveniently situated on the northern side of the town.
The attractive main street contains a mixture of Elizabethan, Georgian and white weather-boarded houses with bow windows and porticoed doorways, and is lined with trees standing on the wide grass verges.
There are many interesting places to visit, not least Smallhythe Place about a mile south of the town. Here plays are still staged where Shakespearian actress Ellen Terry lived from 1899 to her death in 1928. At Rolvenden is the MC Booth collection of historic vehicles with a uniqe collection of Morgan three-wheeled cars, and near to Woodchurch is the South of England Rare Breeds Centre. The National Trust gardens at Sissinghurst are a few minutes journey by car.
