Southend-on-Sea: Southend-on-Sea is a seaside resort created in the early nineteenth century and which soon became one of the most popular holiday towns in th country. It is situated on the north bank of the Thames and from here there is a seafront walk all the way to Shoeburynes three miles to the east. Southend is now a major residential and commercial town with numerous facilities and a seafront full of cafes, stalls and shops.
