Retirement Properties Spotlight in Sidbury

Sidbury is mentioned in Domesday as Sideberie with cattle and sheep and belonged to the Bishop of Exeter. The village lies on the River Sid about a mile north of Sidford and has a beautiful church with a Norman tower and a Saxon crypt. Sidmouth lies about three miles to the south and has spectacular red cliffs above a pebble and shingle beach on the south coast of Devon. The River Sid flows to the east of the town where it enters Lyme Bay. Church Street runs off the Esplanade and there are many Regency houses with iron trelliswork balconies and the Old Manor with its museum. There are good views from Peak Hill to the west and Salcombe Hill to the east.
