Holmfirth lies in the Holme valley and became an important cloth centre in the late middle ages. It is situated at the confluence of the rivers Ribble and Home and is a popular tourist destination particularly after the success of the 'Last of the Summer Wine' series was filmed here. The Peak District National Park is about five miles south of the town.
