Potter Heigham is situated below the Hickling Broad and is mentioned as Echam in Domesday and belonged to Godric de Heigham. It is a convenient centre for touring the Broads and an old three arched bridge crosses the River Thurne about a mile to the southeast. The bridge is well known for being the most difficult to navigate in the area.
Today the village is part of the Ludham-Potter Heigham National Nature Reserve and the Weavers Way passes through the village on its way from Cromer to Great Yarmouth. The church has a round tower typical of the area and a rare 15th century brick font.
Bethel Court is a small retirement development of five retirement bungalows off Church Road built in 1991....
Facilities include an alarm service and garden.
